Though BYOD is thought of as an end-user trend, Michael Rothrock, co-founder and VP of mobile information management company Iongrid, told attendees at the recent TabletBiz conference that it's also being driven by IT departments at many firms.
Rothrock said the CTO of a large semiconductor manufacturer told him that his goal was to become fully BYOD. “He said, and I quote, ‘I don’t give people cars so they can drive to work, why should I give them computing devices?' There’s a lot of data to back up why that’s a good idea."
