“Some of the rules of the game devised in the overall mobile space apply to tablets, but not all do”, says Patrick Pierra, CEO of TabTimes. “Tablet app publishing involves many specific players and face specific issues and opportunities. This is why we are creating TABLET ECOSYSTEM. It’s the only place for tablet app developers and publishers to meet, discuss, learn from each other, be recognized as a leader in their field, do business with customers, investors, suppliers and distributors; and, ultimately, grow their business faster.”

The day will conclude with the The Tabby Awards ceremony - the only competition worldwide for the best iPad, Android and Windows 8 tablet apps for consumers. Submissions to the competition are accepted until Monday, April 15.

“App developers have created an extraordinary range of products tailored to parents, doctors, educators, gamers and everyday consumers," said Jon Potter, President of the Application Developers Alliance, “This awards program will rightly celebrate excellence and ingenuity in the field, while the conference will provide guidance to developers looking to broaden their knowledge of the tablet ecosystem.”

The broad diversity of Android devices, as well as market offensives being waged by RIM, HP and Microsoft - all mainstays in the enterprise world - will only accelerate this trend.

TabTimes will be the official media outlet of the tablet revolution. Its news, reviews and feature articles will provide information, insight and inspiration to enterprise-level managers, small business owners and professionals, and guide them to the best devices, apps, solutions and resources.

TabTimes will be a continuously-updated digital news magazine presented in a tablet application, starting with the iPad platform. Upon its release in the fall of 2011, TabTimes will be one of the first and few pure-play tablet publications providing original content geared for a business audience.

TabTimes will be edited by George Jones. Based in San Francisco and the previous editor-in-chief of Maximum PC - the second largest PC magazine in the US - and Maximum Tech, George Jones has led both print and digital editorial teams at IDG, Future US, and Ziff-Davis. "Using tablets as our main publishing platform will give us a unique understanding of the tablet universe", says George Jones. "I am thrilled to lead our editorial team through the tablet revolution."

Steven Lang will be TabTimes managing editor and business director, based in New York. A business publishing veteran, Steven Lang held senior editorial positions at Ziff-Davis, United Business Media (ex-CMP), Crain Communications, Institutional Investor and McGraw-Hill.

TabTimes is a New York-based media start up. It is funded by Invention Media, a Canadian company that previously was the founding shareholder of BV! Media, a publicly-traded leading web publisher and advertising network. BV! Media was acquired by the media arm of Canadian cable and wireless giant Rogers Communications in October 2010.

Patrick Pierra, previously CEO of BV! Media, is TabTimes publisher, while Keith Jordan, previously a principal product manager at AOL News, is the launch manager.

"Targeting influencers and decision-makers worldwide with a single focus - how to best use tablets for the benefit of their organization - will make TabTimes the beacon of the emerging tablet industry, and a must-buy advertising vehicle for all players in that field", says Patrick Pierra.
