American Airlines to give Samsung Galaxy Notes to 17,000 flight attendants

These ‘phablets’ will be used to bring up customer records, record their meal and beverage preferences (premium class customers only) and for assisting flyers with information like flight delays, the weather, and details for connecting flights.

All of these functions seem to be pending FAA approval at the moment, although American Airlines does hope to start rolling out 5.3-inch Notes later this year, before concluding the deployment halfway through 2013.

American Airlines has been one of the first airlines to embrace tablets, and has previously deployed Apple’s iPad and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab. Just last week, the firm announced that it has received FAA approval for its pilots to use iPads during all phases of flight.
