Analyst: Apple to launch iPad Mini, iPhone 5 & upgraded iPad 3 in September

July 24, 2012

MacRumors says that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reeled off these claims in a recent report, in which he also said that Apple will sell 1.8 million iPad Minis in Q3 and 13 million in Q4. Should the latter be achieved, it would see iPad Mini outsell its bigger brother in the final three months of the year.

And as we reported recently, Kuo reckons Apple will make slight changes to the new iPad to resolve thermal issues and cut costs, and expects this upgraded version to arrive in September too, making it a hectic month for those in Cupertino.

However, for all the talk of an upgraded iPad and the smaller iPad Mini, Kuo still believes that iPhone shipments will be bigger, hitting 55 million units in the fourth quarter. In contrast, the analyst expects iPad sales to reach almost 34 million.

There has been talk of a smaller iPad practically since the new iPad launched back in March, and to date the most believable reports would have us believe that the iPad Mini will have a 7.85-inch display (possibly with a Retina Display resolution), 16GB of memory and a price starting from $299. Previous reports have claimed that the tablet will launch in October.
