Speaking at the recent TabletBiz conference, developer and tech blogger Tristan Louis said Google’s Android actually provides a “substantially more secure solution because it allows for an increased amount of customization. You can create you’re own locked in environment that is particular to your enterprise on top of Google’s platform."
As Louis notes, Apple doesn’t give you that kind of flexibility and while Microsoft does, it requires an investment in Microsoft's own infrastructure products.
Google has taken a number of steps to ensure apps it offers via its Google Play store are virus free, but there are also many Android apps available for download elsewhere that aren’t monitored or checked for viruses, spyware and malware — this is where Android apps get a good deal of their negative reputation.
