Apple and Microsoft clash over App Store fees; SkyDrive sits in limbo

December 11, 2012

According to The Next Web, Apple stopped Microsoft from updating the SkyDrive app after discovering that the software giant had rolled out a feature for users to upgrade their cloud storage when inside the application.

Microsoft is said to be unhappy with Apple taking 30% of all app revenues, although sources say that Steve Ballmer's company has since tried to come to a compromise by removing all subscription options from the SkyDrive app.

Although this news doesn't directly affect end-users, who can still download SkyDrive for their iPhone or iPad, it has stopped Microsoft in its tracks.

The firm apparently has a new version of the SkyDrive app ready to go live on the App Store, but this update has now been delayed as a result of Microsoft's feud with Apple.
