Apple could replace the new iPad and iPad mini from March 2013

December 27, 2012

This claim comes from Japanese blog Macotakara which, citing sources in the supply chain, says that the fifth-generation model will be 4mm shorter, 17mm narrower and 2mm thinner, potentially making the tablet look more like an iPad mini.

The same source also claims that Apple is, as expected, working on an iPad mini with a Retina Display and a dual-core A6X processor. Apple is supposedly testing the device, although it is not yet known if the Cupertino giant intends to launch the new mini with the new iPad in March.

Macotakara has a pretty mixed record when it comes to reporting on Apple rumors, with two of its latest reports yet to come true.

In March the blog said that Apple would look to release a 5-inch tablet with some kind of Retina Display in 2013, before claiming in September that the next generation iPad (which then would have been the iPad 4) would come with a carbon fiber body.
