Apple CEO Tim Cook broke the news, which will see the apps come free of charge on any new iPhone, iPad or fifth-generation iPod Touch.

"As you know, iWork was designed to take advantage of the iPhone and the iPad and to bring that power right to your fingertips,” said Cook, when speaking at the unveiling of the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.

“Today, we’re making all five these industry-leading apps free for any new device.”

Apple has previously charged for these apps. Keynote and Pages sell for $9.99 a pop, while iMovie is priced at $4.99.
