Analysys International reports that 4.353 million consumer tablets were sold in China during the third quarter, representing a reasonable growth of 21.7% on a quarterly basis and 67.2% year-on-year.

The firm, which reported tablet sales of 3.58 million units in Q2 and 3.4 million in Q1, says that Apple continues to lead the market with a 51.7% market share, followed in the distance by Samsung (13%) and Lenovo (9.1%) respectively.

There is some hope for Apple’s rivals however in that the same researcher claimed Apple’s iPad accounted for 70% of all tablets in China just last August.

This news is unlikely to surprise market watchers, most of who believe that China is on the verge of becoming one of the leading countries for tablet sales.

Back in January of this year, fellow research firm NPD DisplaySearch forecast that China would grow to 67 million tablet shipments by the end of 2013, making it the second largest tablet market behind the United States of America.
