Best New iPad Apps: Edit posts on Facebook, check stocks & complete a workout in seven minutes

November 8, 2013

Facebook users can now edit their posts

If you’re on those Facebook posters who take a little time scripting and rehashing your comments for mass social appeal, the latest Facebook iPad app update is likely to go down well.

The app (free, iTunes) update has just rolled out to the App Store and allows iPad users to finally edit posts and comments, as well as view all their changes. This was previously only available on the iPhone.

Less significant changes in version 6.7 include new language support and various bug fixes.

Check stocks with Yahoo Finance

Following on from the re-launch of the Yahoo Weather app back in April, the Internet firm this week released its redesigned Yahoo Finance app for the iPhone and iPad.

Indeed, the app – which is optimized for iOS 7 — takes some design cues from the weather application and allows users to receive push notifications on breaking stories, check stocks (maybe see how Twitter is doing while you’re there), currencies and commodities. You can also read the latest news.

In addition, one neat feature is the interactive stock charts which enable users to compare performance and view historical changes over time.

Burn off some steam in just seven minutes with this iPad app

When it comes to physical exercise, many of us lament “not having enough time in the day” due to work, family and other pressing commitments.

There’s no excuse with “Seven” (free, iTunes), which lets you do a quick but productive workout in just – you’ve guessed it — seven minutes.

Available for free download on the App Store, the app offers up a variety of exercises at 30 seconds a time with a rest in between. Exercises include push ups, crunches, step-ups, jumping jacks and squats.

Although the imagery is rather basic, there are advantages to the app and one of those is that it rewards you for the work you do.

On my demo run, I received 10% off a future booking at Hotels.com. You can also see achievements, unlock new workouts and view analytics.
