Boeing engineers are now using customized iPad apps to fix planes

The company, which makes planes like the 747, 787 Dreamliner and 777, is now handing out iPads with customized apps to aircraft engineers so that they can do everything from check manuals and part numbers to peruse product inventory and check the maintenance history.

CNET reports that the apps are leading to reduced flight delays and even lower costs, and says that the apps – which are due to be announced officially next week—have been trialled by numerous carriers over the course of the year.
