More than just cloud storage: Box launches Box Notes

September 16, 2013

Box Notes is currently in a private beta (you can register here to get involved) and offers an array of features.

Compared to Google Drive by some reporters, the service allows users to create, edit, annotate, collaborate and even leave comments on documents, with these changes then automatically synced to the cloud and to the user’s Box account.

Offline editing and version history are expected to be added to the service at a later date, as well as the ability to drop in rich media like video, photos and audio. Box Notes will also be integrated with Box’s existing mobile apps for iOS and Android.

The Next Web reports that Box – which is now said to have 20 million customers across 180,000 businesses — intends to formally launch the service at some point next year.
