British school ditches paper books to embrace the iPad [video]

January 8, 2013

The school has handed out iPads to 840 students and all teachers, something which headmaster Showk Badat described as “natural evolution” when speaking to the BBC.

The Essa Academy has been using the iPad for a variety of reasons. For instance, in certain classes test results are now instantly sent to teachers over AirPlay, with teachers in turn able to mark any outstanding work straight away.

Students, who initially described the move as “very different”, have also gained. They no longer carry around physical books and frequently use their tablets to email their teachers if they have any problems with their homework.
