Announcing the news via its enterprise blog, the firm said that it has added the option for businesses to create their own Google Play Private Channel, which companies can then use to upload, host and distribute their internal business apps.
Business decision makers or IT managers will have to be registered as a Google Apps for Business, Education or Government administrator to create these private channels, but once accredited can upload their own Android applications to the portal using the Google Play Developer Console.
At this moment in time, businesses can provision apps for specific countries and device models, but are unable to publish apps to certain users or create more than one private channel. In addition, apps cannot be pushed out to the private channel and the public Google Play store at the same time.
From the end user’s perspective, employees are simply required to enter their linked corporate email address to gain access to their company's Google Play Private Channel.
