In the rapidly growing field of robotic surgery, being able to use an iPad to demonstrate how the product works has really helped the sales effort, says Chris Simmonds.

Chris Simmonds of Intuitive Surgical shared how fast-growing Intuitive Surgical's sales team of over 800 people uses video and custom apps on the iPad to show off the features of his company's da Vinci Surgical System.

The robotic arms of the system allow doctors to perform very precise but minimally invasive surgical procedures, Simmonds said at the recent Tablet Strategy West conference.

Because Intuitive's potential clients want to see how da Vinci works, high-quality video is an essential element to their presentations. Thankfully, the iPad allows them to show off how well the Intuitive Surgical device performs in high resolution quality and even in 3D.

Check out the video below from Tablet Strategy West to hear about the tools Intuitive Surgical uses to help drive its business and how the iPad fits with the company's BYOD strategy.
