The update (version 2.5) enables users to annotate and type out text notes with their finger, with all mark-ups being preserved within the file when saved locally, or to Dropbox, Box or Google Drive.
Version 2.5 also brings about a new activity stream for files called ‘FileSpace’ (already available for iOS, coming soon to Android) and universal language support.
CloudOn launched its iPad app in January and an app for Android tablets in May, and today released some new data on its user base to celebrate the new update.
CEO and co-founder Milind Gadekar, who will be speaking at the TabletBiz expo and conference in New York on November 27, explained that the firm’s apps have been downloaded over two million times, with the service picking up more than a million active users each month.
A separate infographic shows that the vast majority of users (95%) access CloudOn with an iPad, with Acer, Samsung and Asus tablet owners accounting for just 1.3%, 0.5% and 0.4%, respectively.
The data also reveals spend on average 40 minutes a month with the app and mostly work on Word documents (47%) and Excel files (25%). Around 11% use the app to view and edit PowerPoint presentations.
