The app is part of corporate parent NBCUniversal’s “TV Everywhere” initiative designed to get its programming available on a wide variety of devices to its cable subscribers.
CNBC also announced it plans to offer a new “Flip Forward” feature in the next few months that will give users the ability to either get an “instant replay” of a segment they just watched or jump-back to the the start of a live program.
The cable network also said it plans to soon add a Pop-out video player which will let users choose their own frame size and position when viewing live programming on the desktop.
"Having access to CNBC's live business news programming across devices is critically important for our audience of decision makers, serious investors and affluent consumers," said Kevin Krim, Senior VP and General Manager, CNBC Digital.
