This rumor comes from online tech website Neowin, which claims to have received the image and accompanying specifications from a reliable ‘tipster’.
In truth, the Dell Latitude 10 – should that be its name – doesn’t look overly exciting. There’s a 10.1-inch display with a standard 1366 x 768 resolution, 2GB of RAM and a dual-core Intel Clover Atom processor, while details also suggest there to be 128GB of SSD, two swappable batteries for up to 12 hours of life, a fingerprint scanner and an optional stylus.
In fairness, this tablet does bear something of a resemblance to the Windows 7-powered Latitude ST, which is already on the market, so it may be that Dell is simply refreshing this model with a Windows 8 version.
There is no suggestion over when this tablet will come to market, although it would be reasonable to think that Dell would want to release this on the launch of Windows 8 at some point in October or November.
This news follows a statement by Michael Dell himself, who revealed earlier this week that Dell is preparing a raft of Windows 8 devices, including tablets, Ultrabooks and possibly some kind of hybrid product to sit between both form factors.
