Create and sync notes across iOS devices with Notability

Ginger Labs this week introduced a major update to its popular iOS note-taking application, Notability ($2.99, iTunes).

Put simply, the changes see the app now offer universal compatibility with iPhone and iPad while iCloud support is offered for syncing notes between these devices. More regular users may also notice a refreshed user interface and a scissor tool for scaling and rotating.

These changes aside and users will notice that the app still retains its usual functions. You can still write, illustrate and annotate on documents, presentations or even books (these can be imported from Google Drive).

There’s also an option to record lectures and meetings with audio recordings and you can organize your notes by subject. iCloud ensures that all notes are synced across all your iOS devices.

Notability, which was one of the “Top 25 All-Time Paid Apps” on the App Store last year according to Apple, is now available to download for a reasonable $2.99. This is because the app developer recently cut the price by 40%.

Manage multiple blogs with WordPress

Another useful app update this week came from the folk at Automattic, who upgraded their WordPress iOS app (free, iTunes) to version 3.7.

The update brings about a handful of new and useful features, including a revamped reader for viewing posts across the entire WordPress ecosystem as well as from blogs you’re following and better account management. Specifically, this latest point allows you to work on multiple accounts, which is useful is you a frequent blogger or working on various different blogs.

As before, WordPress users (you can also sign-up for an account when in the app) can track web statistics, get real-time comment notifications, add pages and view the site from the side bar to the left.

Watch game lights and check sports scores with ESPN

Here’s some good news for sports fans – sports broadcaster ESPN has improved its WatchESPN for iOS app (free, iTunes) so that viewers can keep up-to-date with action when out on the go.

The app offers live access to ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3 and the ESPN Goal Line/Buzzer Beater, while a new iPad-only Live Toolbar shows stats, scores and even on-demand highlights from ESPN.com.

The toolbar can be used while still streaming video and there are three tabs across the bottom of the screen for previewing match information, seeing live scores and related stats and even diving into video highlights or post-game analysis.
