The companies announced the deal on Thursday and the arrangement will see content from the People and InStyle magazines become available immediately to Flipboard users. The Time and Fortune magazines are expected to travel the same path at some point in December.
This is obviously good news for Flipboard in its pursuit of the best publishers but it is also a boon too for Time Inc. According to the press release on the announcement, Flipboard has been “designed to reflect each title’s unique brand experience”, while the pages of these publications will be littered with full-page ad partners. As just one example, Gucci is the advertising launch partner for InStyle on Flipboard.
Flipboard now has numerous agreements in place with some of the prominent publishers, but Time Inc is arguably the largest of the lot. The group reportedly attracts 68 million readers across desktop, tablets and smartphones each month.
