ILX Group claims to deliver learning products and services to over 5,000 organizations across more than 100 countries worldwide, and discovered the above finding in its' Digital Learning for Business report, which also details the growth of e-learning and the consumerization of IT.
The study saw the firm survey HR leaders and business managers and found a steady shift towards mobile devices being used for training. Research found that the numbers of those using desktops (falling from 70% in April to 55% later on in 2012), projectors (62% to 47%) and laptops (74% to 66%) are all due to fall in 2012, with the penetration of those using or thinking about using tablets rising from 13% in April 2012 to 41% over the same time-frame. Smartphones are also due to rise from 20% to 26%, with internet-connected TVs and game consoles ramping up from 6% to 35%.
This rise would seem to be suggest that mobilizing a workforce can extend to training, and that traditional classroom training is increasingly being meshed with digital learning (or e-learning) to improve worker education. Indeed, ILX Group suggested that this ‘blended’ approach to training is favoured by 59% of HR professionals, and is actually found to be more efficient than classroom learning.
ILX Group went onto reveal that 63% of HR professionals and business managers do training to increase business capability, with 51% finding training to have a positive effect on employee longevity and moral. Approximately 43% said that training helped increase productivity, while 30% said that training even had a positive impact on achieving profit.
