Citing “people familiar with the matter”, the Wall Street Journal reports that Google is working on these new products as an early response to Apple, which is reportedly working on the iWatch and some kind of videogame console.
Sources also believe that Google will look to introduce a second version of its Nexus Q Android media streaming device as well as a plethora of low-end Android smartphones for developing markets.
It has been claimed that Google will push these smartphones to countries it is working with on funding or creating next-generation wireless networks.
Google could even push Android onto laptops, with WSJ sources saying that HP is just one vendor working on introducing Android laptops. HP declined to comment on the matter but did announce the convertible Android tablet, named the SlateBook x2, just last month.
