Speaking to Android Authority, an anonymous Asus representative confirmed that the Taiwanese vendor is making the tablet, and said that the device will launch at the end of June, which is when Google's I/O developer conference takes place.

The source did not reveal any new specification details.

Previous rumors suggest that the tablet will tip up with a 7-inch display, a quad-core Tegra 3 chipset and will run either Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) or Jelly Bean, the next iteration of Android. The tablet is expected to have a price between $150 and $250.

This news is the latest in a line of leaks on a possible Google tablet, although the search giant may yet find itself in an instant dog fight with Apple in the budget tablet market, if other leaks are anything to by.

The Cupertino giant is expected to get the jump on Google by launching a 7-inch tablet of its own at its WWDC later today (Monday 11 June).
