Has Nokia ditched Windows RT to work on Windows 8 tablet?

July 9, 2013

Five images of the widely-publicized Windows RT model were posted on a Korean forum on Monday and appear to show that the tablet has a 10-inch screen and a charging port, which the poster identified as a magnetic connector similar to the MagSafe used on MacBooks and Microsoft’s Surface tablets.

The poster, who claimed to have received the unit from someone who works at Nokia as a "gift", went onto claim that the prototype tablet, has an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, HDMI and USB ports, and a SIM card slot for LTE support.

There is, however, no sign of the rumoured battery-powered keyboard cover.

However, while it may well be that Nokia has canned the Windows RT tablet based on the poor reception of the ARM-based operating system and Microsoft’s own Surface RT tablet, that doesn’t mean the Finnish handset maker is out of the tablet game.

Citing ‘sources familiar with the project’, The Verge reports that Nokia is instead continuing development on a full-fat Windows 8 tablet.
