In business for over 20 years with its home office in Atlanta, Georgia with distribution sites in St. Louis, Missouri and Reno, Nevada, Home Healthcare coordinates not only with healthcare providers, and their billing systems but also more than two dozen suppliers such as 3M, ConvaTec, Systagenix, McKesson, Procura, and ProntoForms.
“Generally, orders are taken from patients by nurses and clinicians. Our old process had these professionals calling in medical supply orders or even lugging laptops into the field,” explains Justin Shelton, a customer service supervisor for Home Healthcare Solutions.
For the health professional on the road, having to stop everything to dictate required medical supplies over the phone also took up precious time spent with patients.
“We would have healthcare workers pulling over in their cars to call us and send in their orders.”
Additionally, the digitized information needed to be interfaced with the industry’s billing software providers to automate the capture of supply usage data directly into the patient record.
Choosing the mobile strategy
Seeking a more efficient way of receiving and processing medical supply orders, Home Healthcare Solutions turned to a combination of Samsung Galaxy tablet and smartphone devices, AT&T wireless service, and ProntoForms.
The combination of tablets and software allows nurses and clinicians to fill out forms on tablets and smartphones and instantly submit them. In addition, the application can also be integrated with any back office system and connects with the company’s cloud services.
“The learning curve wasn’t that big at all for our clients,”Shelton said. “Professionals in the field are able to use tablets to capture a signature right on the mobile form and also take advantage of the ProntoForms lookup table feature, allowing them to quickly access elements like inventory numbers and previous patient information.”
As a result of its tablet deployment, Home Healthcare Solutions has been able to reduce man hour costs by a third and deliver important supplies to the field faster.
“We also like the ease of ability to change form settings and other information with the ProntoForms Web Management Portal.”
