An inside look at the top 10 Android & iOS apps banned in the enterprise

June 7, 2013

Mobile Device Management (MDM) provider Fiberlink, set out to find out what apps are most frequently banned by analyzing data from the 2 million+ devices they manage for businesses worldwide.

Many popular consumer apps head the lists of blacklisted (banned) apps, while one of those same apps (Dropbox) also shows up on on the top 10 Whitelisted (allowed) apps for iOS.

Fiberlink also notes that the customers in the Manufacturing and Services industry have more blacklisted app policies than any other industry.

Another interesting nugget from the company's research is that less than 10% of its customers have a policy in place for either Blacklisted or Whitelisted Apps on iOS devices, while that percentage drops to less than 5% for Android devices.
