iPad and iPad mini cases with a custom wrinkle for the business market

February 16, 2013

That’s the thinking behind iGearUnlimited’s new line of customizable iPad cases.

These aren’t the first iPad cases you can customize, but iGearUnlimited thinks it’s Custom iPad Case has some unique advantages. The front cover of the cases can be fully customized with a business’ brand or logo or other custom artwork.

The lightweight hard shell case is completely enclosed from all sides, with precise cutouts for all ports and buttons. it also comes with two sets of magnets, one set to activate the iPad’s auto wake/sleep feature, and another to keep the case closed when not in use.

Three “strategically positioned hinges” lets you position the iPad at any of five different viewing angles, from completely flat to vertically tilted.

But it’s the customization part that these cases take a different tack than competitors. For example, some vendors offer a one-piece clip-on style for the back of the iPad. You can also add a magnet-attached smart cover, but iGearUnlimited claims it’s heard “horror stories” of users grabbing onto the cover while the iPad itself goes into a free fall.

To add artwork or branding, customers can upload their own photo or vector artwork to the ordering website, scale and crop the image, add text, and approve the design immediately online. iGearUnlimited says its HTML5-based customization engine can be used on virtually all mobile devices, including the iPad itself.

The iPad Custom Case is compatible with iPad 2, iPad 3, and the new iPad 4 with Retina Display. The company also offers an iPad Mini Custom Case. Single unit pricing is $89.99 and $79.99 with discounts available for bulk orders.
