It’s great to be able to easily take your smartphone wherever you go and your tablet most places. But a new report shows a notable uptick in mobile device usage is happening off-road in people’s homes.
A broadband usage report from Internet services company Sandvine shows that mobile devices now account for 20% of traffic on U.S. home broadband networks – up from 9% a year ago.
Sandvine says that the iPad accounts for more home traffic than any other device, at more than 10%. Also, if you combined all of Apple’s devices (iPads, iPhones, Macs, etc.), the company ends up with more than 45% of home broadband usage.
