Job listing suggests Microsoft is working on more than one new Surface tablet

April 2, 2013

The Redmond software giant this week posted a job ad for a new designer to join the Surface team on Coroflot’s Job Board, and candidly admitted that work is on-going on new Surface designs.

"Are you passionate about building cool devices and technologies?," reads the ad.

"The Surface Team focuses on building devices that fully express the Windows vision. We are currently building the next generation and Surface needs you!"

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has posted an ad looking for new personnel in the Surface team. Back in August, just two months before the launch of the Surface RT, Microsoft advertised for a dozen Surface jobs on its Careers website.

This news will however come as confirmation that the software company is working on future Surface tablets. In the past, chief executive Steve Ballmer and chief financial officer Peter Klein have both hinted at numerous new models coming to market, while reports have claimed that Microsoft is readying as many as three new Surface tablets.

Recent changes to Microsoft's certification of Windows 8 tablets have also raised the possibility that the firm could introduce a 7-inch Surface tablet.
