The Redmond software giant congratulated itself on the arrival of the build in the Windows Dev Center via a company blog post, written by Chuck Chan, the firm’s corporate vice president for development. The company took the blog post down some minutes later.

Fortunately for us, one media outlet managed to capture a screenshot of the post, which outlined the new features of the Windows 8 Release Build, while issuing instructions on how to download it.

News on this latest build has been building up over the last week, with the Chinese version of the Windows 8 Release Preview leaking on Monday and The Next Web followed this up by unearthing news that Flash will be bundled into the Metro-based version of Internet Explorer 10.

This news on the Release Preview launching today should be seen to be overly surprising given Microsoft has already committed to outing the build – said to be the last preview version before the OS goes live later this year – in the first week in June.

Microsoft launched its last beta version of Windows 8, the Consumer Preview, at the Mobile World Congress in Spain three months ago.
