The Archos 80 Platinum includes an 8-inch, 1024 x 768 display and is, according to Archos, almost twice as fast as Amazon’s 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD ($299) with twice the RAM (2 GB) and front and back cameras for $199. It’s set to be released this month.
What might be considered the mid-range model of the three, the Archos 97 Platinum HD is a 9.7-inch tablet with 2048 x 1536 resolution IPS display that Archos says is comparable to the iPad’s Retina display. Price is $299.
Lastly, the top of the line Archos 116 Platinum features an 11.6-inch, 1920 x 1080 display “unlike anything currently on the market,” according to Archos. Despite the high end, bigger display, the 116 Platinum undercuts name brand Windows and Android competitors, as well as the iPad, with a $349 price.
But you’ll have to stay tuned, Archos says the 116 Platinum won’t be available until April.
