Longform has been curating the Internet’s finest long-form journalism via Twitter and its own website for some time now. Starting today, the company is releasing its own iPad app that allows readers to discover top-notch stories and read them directly on their tablets.
Whereas the company’s website (Longform.org) uses Instapaper, Read It Later, and Amazon’s “Send to Kindle” function to allow readers to save longer stories that they would read on another device or website, the $4.99 app will allow readers to launch and read stories directly.
The Longform app will load the original story’s web page, which will allow publishers to realize at least initial page views and ad impressions. “It is important to us that the app is a great opportunity for publishers,” Longform’s other co-founder Max Linksy told VentureBeat’s Ben Popper, “and we’re totally up to work with them to make sure their own advertising is effective within Longform.”
Longform’s app is available now on iTunes.
