New Yahoo Screen app aims to simplify access to media content

Yahoo Screen is designed to act as a mobile home for Yahoo’s own media content and that from its content partners, offering a simple, swipeable interface for browsing through the various programs.

"Heading home, turning the TV on and channel-surfing is something that a lot of us do every day. This daily experience is what we wanted to recreate with our new Yahoo Screen app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch," said Robby Stein, director of product management at Yahoo.

The idea is that Yahoo Screen lets you easily do things like browse through trending clips, search for shows, or jump right in and start watching with a simple flick or tap of your finger. Swiping left and right skips between episodes and swiping up and down flips through channels.

As part of the rollout, Yahoo announced a deal with Viacom that offers clips from some of Comedy Central’s popular shows, including The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report.
