Jide Ultra Remix Surface tablet could be yours for just $39

Do you remember back in January when we told you about a new tablet in the works from a few ex-Googlers, that looked like a Microsoft Surface, but ran a custom Android ROM meant for Windows-like productivity? Some of you said you ‘actually really like this,’ others bashed it, but you know what, the Jide Ultra Remix Surface tablet could be yours for as little as $39!

Here’s the deal, Jide has a Kickstarter campaign rolling for their Android 4.4 based ROM powered tablet. The campaign starts March 25th and has an entry pledge reward level of $39. No word on what exactly that reward will be, but every pledge is said to receive a new [...]

What is USB Type-C? How does it change the game?

Google and Apple have both launched new mobile computers recently, and although the machines are quite different, they have something in common: both include USB Type-C ports. So what exactly is USB Type-C? Let’s take a look.

You are probably very familiar with USB. If you have a PC, you have probably used a USB flash drive, or maybe you have connected a printer with USB. If you have an Android phone then you will be familiar with USB as the way to charge your phone, or as the way you transfer data to and from the phone. USB has been around for a long time. It first gained mainstream popularity when Microsoft included support for it in Windows 98, and Apple used [...]

Deal: Get $50 in Google Play credit with purchase of a Nexus 9, Nexus 6 or Android Wear device

If you live in the United States and you’re in the market for a new smartphone, tablet or wearable, the newly-announced Google Store may have a deal for you. From now until March 31st, if you purchase a Nexus 6, Nexus 9 or any Android Wear device, you’ll receive $50 in credit to be used on anything in the Google Play Store. Once you purchase your new device, you’ll get a confirmation email from Google with your promotion code, which can then be added to your Play Store balance.

There are a few rules and regulations to go over before you make your purchase, though. Just to clarify, the $50 credit can be used in the Google Play Store, not the new Google [...]

Samsung Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus announced in Russia

Earlier today Samsung held a press event in Russia, where the company announced its new Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus, both of which are mid-tier tablets with that familiar Samsung tablet feel.

The Galaxy Tab A series comes in two variants, one 8-inch and the other at 9.7-inches, both featuring a 4:3 aspect ratio and a display resolution of 1024×768 pixels. Both are also quite thin, with a depth of only 7.5mm.

The tablets also feature an unspecified quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory with microSD card support (up to 128 GB extra), a 5 megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and a 4,200mAh [...]

Windows tablet for $48 – can the MOMO7W be worth it?

In the world of inexpensive tablets, Android powered devices have been leading the way. Unfortunately, the word ‘cheap’ sometimes refers not only to the price tag, but also to the overall build quality and user experience with low end hardware. A new Microsoft Windows tablet is hitting store, probably not near you, that clocks in at about $48, but is it worth looking at?

The inexpensive new tablet is the Ployer MOMO7W, a 7-inch Windows tablet with 1024×600 screen resolution, an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The rundown of specs here is a far cry from the rundown of specs for other new tablets out [...]

Chromebook Pixel (2015) arrives, USB-C ports in tow — starting at $999

Last month Google unofficially revealed a new Chromebook Pixel was on its way sometime soon, though at the time no specific details were given. As it turns out, today is the day, as the Chromebook Pixel (2015) has landed.

For those that were intrigued by the idea of a high-end Chrome OS experience but not so keen on Google’s $1300 asking price for the Pixel, you’ll be happy to know that the latest model is a fair amount cheaper at $999 for the Intel Core i5 model with 8GB RAM and 32GB storage. Although this is still much more expensive than typical Chromebooks, a $300 price reduction is a welcome change. If you want even more power under the hood, a $1300 variant [...]

Android Lollipop 5.1 factory images are now ready for download

Just a few hours ago, Android 5.1 became official, though it had been spotted running on Android One devices earlier this year. The new build includes three main features, multiple-SIM card support (a staple for many Asian devices), device protection, and HD voice calling along with bug fixes and the likes. While most of these features sound better suited to phones, a couple Nexus tablets are first up to the plate.

While there are no concrete details as to when the update will arrive OTA, Google has thankfully begun to post the factory images. Those who know what to do need only click on the link below, find their device, get their download on, and patch away. For those who [...]

Archos 94 Magnus tablet packs 256GB of internal memory

Today, Archos has announced three new tablets, the 101 Magnus, 101 Magnus + and 94 Magnus, which are all equipped with plenty of internal memory for the media heavy consumer. In fact, the 94 Magnus comes with a gargantuan 256GB of internal storage, with room for an extra 128GB microSD card, if you really need it.

Archos claims to have been able to squeeze so much memory into a tablet due to its “Fusion Storage” technology, which essentially combines microSD card storage and internal memory into a single memory partition. The benefit is that you can use all of the storage for apps, games and other large files.

The Archos 101 Magnus is the cheapest of the line-up, [...]

Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet first look!

Flagship season is upon us, but noticeable in its absence is the latest flagship smartphone from Sony, which has now been pushed back to accommodate Sony’s move away from their bi-annual release cycle. Nevertheless, Sony hasn’t come to MWC 2015 without its own bag of goodies, with the waterproof Xperia M4 Aqua, as well as the highly-anticipated latest addition to their high-end tablet lineup. At MWC 2015, we got to spend some time with the device, and here is our first look at the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet!

Ever since the launch of the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, we were wondering what Sony would do with regards to a tablet in the 10-inch form factor, [...]

Sony’s new Xperia Z4 Tablet delivers raw power in a crazy slim body

It’s not really a surprise, following the leak from last week, but Sony just introduced the latest version of the sexy 10.1-inch Xperia Tablet at MWC 2015.

We were hoping for a new version of the Xperia Z flagship smartphone from Sony, but what we got instead might make up for that: the new Xperia Z4 Tablet is thinner, lighter, has a higher resolution screen, and packs more power.

In terms of design, the Xperia Z4 Tablet looks a lot like its smaller sibling, the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, released last year at IFA. The same design language featuring rounded edges is used to great success on the 10.1 model, and amazingly Sony managed to make the Z4 Tablet even [...]
