The inexplicably explosive 'Flappy Bird' has arrived on Android

January 31 2014

This little gem is no longer an iOS exclusive.

Flappy Bird, is, for some completely mysterious reason, the number one free app in Apple App Store currently. And now its creator, Vietnamese indie developer Dong Nguyen, has ported the game to Android.

In Flappy Bird you tap the screen to make a flappy bird fly between sets of vertical pipes that were almost certainly ripped straight from one Mario game or another. That's it. Flappy Bird is ridiculously simple, It came out months ago, and Nguyen has confirmed he did no promotion whatsoever and has no idea why it's just become so impossibly popular right now.

In only slightly related news, Minigore 2: Zombies, another formerly iOS-only game, was released on Android this week as well. Check out our list of the best new Android tablet games for some more new releases.

Anyway, go get a taste of this enigma, Android users. It's free, after all.
