Glu has partnered with Eon and MGM to create a new James Bond game for smartphones and tablets.

There are few details on the game at this point, but we do know that it's "inspired by the history, themes, characters, and narratives of James Bond," according to Glu's announcement.

Although there have been plenty of 007 games on consoles—some good and some bad—Bond has yet to be explored on mobile. Granted, this probably won't be a triple-A shooter or anything. But it will be interesting to see what it is.

"Bond offers a deep catalogue of thematic inspiration for gaming. We are honored by the opportunity to be the first to bring such a storied franchise to free-to-play mobile gaming," Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi said in the announcement. "We look forward to delivering a never before seen gameplay experience on mobile for the passionate worldwide community of Bond fans."

Glu's James Bond game will launch in summer 2015 and be available "across all major mobile platforms."
