American retail chain Meijer has cut $70 off the price of the 16GB WiFi iPad 2, in a move which could mark the first of many iPad 2 discounts at retail stores.
Meijer has said that the discount, which sees the iPad 2 drop to $429, will be available while ‘stocks last’ and will only be available for customers buying in-store.
The discount marks the most significant discount from the US retail chain since the iPad 2 launched last year, and comes just weeks before Apple is expected to launch the iPad 3. Meijer is also reducing the Smart Cover for iPad 2 to $35 and offering a free $15 iTunes card with every 8GB iPod Touch purchase this week.
As mentioned in TabTimes’ recent round-up of the iPad 3 rumors, Apple’s next tablet is expected to feature a high-resolution Retina display, a better camera, a bigger battery and a faster A6 processor. The tablet is expected to be announced in early March at an event in San Francisco.
