IT fears the impact of BYOD on network infrastructure

by TabTimes Staff

September 30 2013

Bring Your Own Device may be a great deal for employees, but CDW's latest Mobility at Work study suggests that supporting workers personal devices will put increasing strain on network resources.

Of those responding to the survey, 9 out of 10 believe BYOD will have detrimental effects on network infrastructure. For example, 63% were concerned about increased bandwith requirements, while 44% expect BYOD to result in increased server requirements.

Another interesting nugget from the report -  Only 51% of IT professionals said they talk to their employees about how they need to use their personal mobile devices.

CDW surveyed 1,200 IT professionals and 1,200 non-IT professionals who use a personal smartphone and/or tablet for work purposes at least once a week.

(Don't miss "BYOD & the cloud - Managing apps and data on your employee's tablet" one of the key sessions at the TabletBiz conference & expo, coming to New York, November 13, 2013).
