Tablets increasingly a hit for doing homework

Along with a growing number of tablet deployments at schools, a new survey shows a lot of kids are using tablets at home to finish their homework.

According to a new Connected Devices report from Nielsen, about 78% of parents with tablets say they let their kids under the age of 11 use their tablets at home.

Over half (54%) who let their kids use their tablets at home also said that their children used tablets for educational purposes.

Out of this group, some of the most popular activities kids use tablets for are reading books (42%), taking notes (40%), and finishing homework (30%).

The top activity was  "searching the Internet" (51%).
