Insurance agents are among the earliest of road warriors to adopt mobile technologies from notebook computers to digital cameras. Many insurance companies are now working to lighten their mobile agents load either by giving them tablet computers and/or supporting them with new software for the devices.
Progressive Insurance is advancing the mobile options available to its agents with today’s announcement that the company’s dedicated website, ForAgentsOnly.com, is now accessible via tablet to its network of over 35,000 independent agents. Initially the site is available to Progressive agents with iPads, but the company says it will be compatible with Android tablets in the next few months.
The site is designed to help agents quickly and easily quote and sell policies.
"Our agents are busy, on-the-go professionals, and we're finding new ways to break down the barriers to doing business quickly and easily wherever they go," said Karen Barone, Progressive's agency distribution business leader, in a release. "We'll continue producing technology that helps agencies grow their business and stay better connected with their customers."
Progressive aid the tablet news is part of an overall push to offer cutting edge mobile technology to its agents and customers. For example, the company has recently made advancements to its customer-facing technologies by adding VIN scan, severe weather text alerts and its Snapshot discount updates to its list of mobile offerings, which also includes finding a local agent, claims reporting, and bill pay.
