The Commons Administration Committee (CAC) recently recommended that every MP be provided with a tablet PC so to make it easier for MPs to work, while saving money on paper. Currently, every MP is provided with three desktop PCs and two laptops for office use, but – according to Sir Alan Haselhurt, chair of the committee – this could be revised so that the tablet replaces one of the laptops.

The committee first begun testing tablets out with a trial involving 16 of its members in February. The House of Commons Commission is expected to consider the committee’s recommendation in a meeting on Monday evening (GMT).

The Daily Mail claims that 70 MPs have so far purchased an iPad through their expenses, and says that if an iPad was bought for every MP it would cost the taxpayer around £250,000.
