Drchono patient care platform for iPad attracts some interesting new investors
Among the new investors in the $2.8 million round is Matt Cutts, who heads Google’s Webspam team and is one of the key leaders of Google’s search quality group. The new round of funding was led by Internet investor Yuri Milner who was already an investor in the Mountain, View, CA company.
Milner’s Digital Sky Technologies also has investments in Facebook, Groupon and Zinga. Forbes estimates Milner has a net worth of $1 billion.
“The drchrono team has built an incredibly exciting product that helps physicians modernize their practice and enhances quality of care for patients,” said Milner. “I am pleased to be a part of drchrono’s growth and development.”
Drchrono also just released a new Billing Center feature to its cloud-based system that's designed to simplify a medical practice’s revenue stream. Billing Center facilitates medical billing and lets doctors get payments within days directly from their iPads. The idea is to streamline the traditional medical billing process which typically involves working with paper forms and outside vendors.
The platform is already compliant with the government’s new payment standards, 5010, which supports ICD-10 and ICD-9 medical codes.
“With just an app on the iPad, we can instantly deliver new technology to our doctors that streamlines their workflow and slashes bureaucratic costs,” said Michael Nusimow, CEO of drchrono. “Rather than spending tens of thousands of dollars on consultants and updates to enterprise software systems, we can deliver a fully compliant, end-to-end platform that any provider can learn to use in minutes.”
