'Rayman Jungle Run' goes free on iOS as some players report erased saves

Ubisoft's excellent platformer is now free, but there may have been a cost nonetheless.

If you've managed to resist picking up Rayman Jungle Run, the good news is that it's currently free on iOS. It's unclear how long that will last—given that the game is laden with ads for its successor, Rayman Fiesta Runa, it could be a permanent price reduction. Or it may just be a holiday promotion.

But unfortuantely many players have been reporting that the game's latest update, released in mid-December, erased their save progress. Given that Jungle Run came out back in 2012, a lot of players had reached full completion, and the App Store has been inundated with dozens of one-star reviews from disappointed customers who find themselves all of a sudden back at square one.

I reached out to Ubisoft to find out how long Rayman Jungle Run will be free and why players' saves are being erased, and I'll update this article if I hear back.
