Apple is changing the way it does top iOS game charts

Apple will now provide weekly snapshots of top free and paid games in addition to updating its charts in real time.

The charts will show games ranked by cumulative downloads over the previous seven days.

As Touch Arcade points out, this is not an enormous change in the short term. But in the long run it may alter how we look at iOS games. The smartphone and tablet gaming market moves so quickly, it might be nice to see things laid out in seven-day increments instead of minute-by-minute.

Without further ado, these are the top iPad games from March 17 to March 23, according to Apple:

Top paid iPad games

  • Minecraft – Pocket Edition
  • Surgeon Simulator
  • Skyblock - Survival Game Mission Flying Island
  • Card Wars - Adventure Time
  • Survivalcraft
  • Hide N Seek : Mini Game With Worldwide Multiplayer
  • Calling All Mixels
  • Pixel Gun 3D
  • Plants vs. Zombies HD
  • Angry Birds Star Wars II

Top free iPad games

  • Smash Hit
  • Farm Heroes Saga
  • The Impossible Flappy Game - The Adventures of a Tiny Bird
  • Ridge Racer Slipstream
  • Midnight Castle - A Hidden Object Mystery Game
  • Little Hand Doctor - kids games
  • Bouncing Slime - Impossible Levels
  • Frozen Free Fall
  • Angry Birds Go!
  • Baby Heroes: Professional Babies Save the City & Day!

(Is it just me, or are most of these complete crap? Sigh.)
