Paper developer is gearing up to launch a new tablet stylus

by TabTimes Staff

October 18 2013

The developers behind the award-winning Paper iPad app are gearing up to launch their first stylus. The “Pencil” capacitive stylus was today spotted after gaining approval at the FCC.

The FCC filing details how the stylus is rubber-tipped and Bluetooth powered and describes how it can draw on a touchscreen “like a canvas”. There are also apparently two different versions; one which is crafted from wood and another which is made of aluminium alloy.

The Paper sketching app has won wide-spread applause since its introduction to the App Store some 18 months ago, and there have been signs of late that its developers – which were also behind the now-defunct Microsoft Courier project – are moving onto physical products.

The company -- which is called FiftyThree -- recently partnered with Moleskine so that Paper users can use the app to create custom-printed books featuring their artwork.
