The self-improvement industry has long relied on books, seminars and videos to hawk its wares; now the growing popularity of tablets has made the portable devices an attractive platform for the industry as well.
The latest example? EDB Media has just released its Personal Power Path Anger Management App for the iPad. The app is based on the self-improvement company’s online anger management program with a mobile twist.
"For the first time, there is a portable, affordable way for people to use proven anger management techniques in real time," said company EDB spokeperson Nate Stack, in a release. “Results will vary because people engage the program in different ways, but the more time you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it.”
The Anger Management App is designed as a six week course, though EDB notes it can be completed at the user’s own pace. Features include, step-by-step instruction, how-to videos, a journal, “inspirational messaging and community support.”
While anger management has been the butt of jokes, including a comedy movie of the same name starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson, it can be a serious malady. While not all instances can be connected to anger issues, one report says that over a million people in the U.S. are assaulted by a co-worker and about a thousand are murdered every year. The vast majority of these incidents occur over a dispute spinning out of control or someone being let go, according to the report. EDB cites another report that says almost 16 million Americans suffer with anger disorders.
