San Francisco-based startup FitStar has raised $4 million to expand its line-up of fitness apps.

The recently launched workout app features Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez,. The latest financing round was led by Trinity Ventures and follows an earlier investment by Google Ventures.

FitStar’s first app features video of Gonzalez leading users through several dozen exercises that can all be done without the assistance of any equipment. The app also responds to the user and customizes the difficulty of the exercises based on their fitness level.

(Venture capital and fund raising for apps will be a key topic of discussion at the upcoming Tablet Ecosystem conference in San Francisco on September 12).
