Next Wednesday, July 10, will mark the 5th anniversary of Apple's App Store launch. Originally focused on the iPhone, the App Store has since expanded to include apps customized for the iPad as well.
The iPhone App Store debuted with more than 500 apps. Today, there are over 850,000 applications on the App Store, including 350,000 native iPad apps.
Apple sent a poster to the press highlighting some of the most popular apps in the App Store, including games like Angry Birds, Temple Run and Fruit Ninja; streaming services Netflix and HBO Go; and other options like Time Magazine and Paper.
Apple says it has paid developers who have sold their apps on the App Store over $10 billion to date.
