Yahoo is getting pretty serious about smartphones and tablets. The company has reportedly just paid $50 million to acquire New York start-up Qwiki Inc, a mobile app for creating videos on the iPhone.
You can use Qwiki, which has previously had an iPad app and which plans to launch on Android in the future, to bring together media on your iPhone’s camera roll with iTunes songs. You can also add filters and edit captions for each video, which can be up to a minute long.
This announcement marks Yahoo’s third mobile-centric acquisition in under two months. The firm purchased blogging service Tumblr for $1.1 billion in May and acquired another mobile app developer, Bignoggins Productions, earlier this week.Source article
