Just one week on from launching a new Google Maps app for Android and the search giant has rolled out another new version of the app for Apple’s iPad.

The universal app (it also works on iPhone) is free to download from the App Store and now boasts the same voice-controlled turn-by-turn navigation and local discovery features (such as live traffic updates) as the Android tablet version.

As with the recently-released Android app, iPad users will be able to peruse the local area for places to eat, drink and shop, see which places friends rate highly and even view indoor maps.

Furthermore, iPad users will be able to see deals from their favourite brands with Google Offers.
